Indian court suspends warrant for Gere's arrest

Shilpa
India's supreme court today suspended a warrant for the arrest of Richard Gere, who had been accused of breaking public obscenity laws by kissing Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty in New Delhi last month.
The court has suspended all legal proceedings against the pair, until the correct jurisdiction for the case is decided. The controversy, which created headlines around the world, began in April, when Gere kissed Shetty on the cheek and swung her in his arms during an Aids awareness campaign in New Delhi in what was reportedly intended to be a parody of a scene from his 2004 film Shall We Dance.
